Erie Brought the Glow to the Glow Run 5K Erie

,

Wow! Woa! Woohoo! The Glow Run 5K Erie was a glowing success. I have never seen so many smiling, glowing faces in one place. Over 2,700 people turned out for this first annual event. YIKES ya’ll!

She said Yes!

Just as the race was starting, the sun was setting on a most perfect Memorial Day Weekend and as I surveyed the glow stick and black light infused landscape, it was breathtaking to behold.

We had some pretty spectacular surprises too. I am sucker for romance and one beau had a sparkly diamond-type surprise waiting for his sweetheart at the finish line. He gets major points for a creative marriage proposal and she said YES!

Frank Sulzer did the race in full firefighter gear!

There was also my hero, Frank Sulzer. This guy! He runs the entire 5K in full on firefighter gear. All of it! He does races in honor of his cousin Gerard P. Dewan of the FDNY Ladder 3 who gave his life on 9/11.

The icing on the cake was that we raised over $10,000, enough for two travel scholarships to send Erie area students abroad next year. That’s what all the work and all the fun is about. Thank you so much for helping us make it possible.
