The Best of the 2015 Glow Erie Run
Not even the threat of a little rain could keep the glow from going down! Nearly 2,000 people turned out at Penn State Behrend for the 2nd annual Glow Erie Run on May 24th.
We kicked off the pre-glow party with DJ Shawn Steele with a guest appearance by DJ Nova Flash, student at Merceyhurst Prep. Plus we had a killer warm up with Zumba instructors Lacey Tanner and Jen Smith.
There was so much to do and see. If you were there, I hope you saw the fire show with Jennifer Dennehy and friends. I mean woa, wow, OMG! They were amazing. Plus some pretty impressive fire juggling, too!
My favorite had to be the lovely glowing ladies on stilts. That was really a sight to see.
Plus, we had face painting and a bouncy slide for the kids (and adults too) to enjoy at the pre-glow party.
Our favorite volunteer fire fighter and annual Glow Erie runner, Frank Sulzer, was flag bearer for the National Anthem in honor of our vets for Memorial Day.
We had a little costume contest too. Check out this family of ladies who won first prize for the Group Glow!
All this and we still had the race to to look forward to!
During the race, runners and walkers experienced music from DJ Nova Flash, Happi 92.7, and The Wolf passed out water halfway through the course. The highlight though, was the light installations along the way that included a black light tunnel, LED arches and The Lake Erie Hoop Troop.
Post-race, Angela Magee (that’s me), Executive Director of United Service Corps, honored the race winners with a Jawbone UP Fitness Tracker.
